Arenas

 

With a population of about 85,000 and six public arenas, Kamloops has more arenas per capita than most cities in Canada. Event planners will have their needs exceeded when staging events requiring more than one rink. Time keepers' bench, public address system, and electronic score clock are standard features in each of the six rinks.

Interior Savings Centre

Located just off the heart of Downtown Kamloops in Riverside Park, Interior Savings Centre (85 ft x 200 ft) is Kamloops' complete arena with seating and standing room capacity for more than 6,500. Features include: Change rooms, officials room, meeting rooms storage, office space, washrooms, fixed overhead video scoreboard, elevator to all three levels, and wheel chair accessibility on all three floors. Parking is available behind the arena, in Riverside Park, along Lorne, River and neighbouring streets. 

The building's floor space conforms to NHL dimensions and is lined with rink boards that can be covered over with sponsor banners. The building can accommodate upwards of 6,500 people when the floor seating is utilized for concerts. Permanent general seating numbers 5,000 and is split between a lower bowl and mezzanine. Another 500 people can be accommodated between standing room and wheelchair accessible spaces located on the main concourse. Another couple hundred people can be divided between the luxury boxes and the sky mezzanine.

Hockey is the building's primary user, but that hasn't stopped basketball, curling, gymnastics, judo, and motor sports from successfully staging multi-day events.

Groups needing meeting space can choose between the Sports Action Lounge (250 people) and the Rivers Room (125 people). Both rooms have windows and several power outlets. Kitchen facilities are available off of the Sports Action Lounge.

Interior Savings Centre is conveniently located in Downtown Kamloops in Riverside Park and two blocks from shopping and a short walk to a choice of hotels and motels. Additional shopping in Sahali and Aberdeen is a 5 or 10 minute drive away.

McArthur Island Sports and Events Centre

Located in North Kamloops in the picturesque, multi-use and spacious McArthur Island, is the Sports Centre Olympic and the Sports Centre NHL.  There is plenty of free parking available.

• 1 Olympic Ice surface (100 ft x 200 ft), seating for 1,000
• 1 National Hockey League ice surface (90 ft  x 190 ft), seating for 1,500
• 6 curling sheets, with viewing lounge accommodating 250
• Spacious lobby, lockers, and 10 dressing rooms
• Office space for event coordination and sport associations

Memorial Arena

Located just off of Downtown Kamloops, Memorial Arena (80 ft x 190 ft) has change rooms, officials room, storage, office space and full surround bleacher seating for more than 2,500.
Both levels are wheelchair accessible. Street parking is available along Victoria and neighbouring streets.

Valleyview Arena

Located on the outskirts of the Valleyview neighbourhood and less than a minute drive from the Trans Canada Highway, Valleyview Arena (85 ft x 190 ft) has change rooms, officials room, office space, washrooms, bleacher seating for about 200, lobby area with bench seating, and is one level with wheelchair accessibility. Plenty of free on-site parking is available.

Brock Arena

Located in the Brocklehurst neighbourhood, Brock Arena (80 ft x 185 ft) has change rooms, officials room, lobby, concession, washrooms, is wheelchair accessible on the main level, and has bleacher seating along one length. As part of the footprint for a community park, the 25m outdoor Brock Pool complex shares a portion of the arena's walls. Plenty of free on-site parking is available.
